CSC Associate Director Jim Lyall (left) introduced Ed Pulido from the United Way of Central Oklahoma.

Nominating Committee chair Carole Huff-Hicks (below, right) presented the committee's recommendations, and 2008 CSC officers and Board members were elected.

Kerry Lewis expressed the Council's appreciation to Board members, staff, MHSC partners, community colleagues, United Way, other CSC leaders and supporters, and others who have helped make the year's successes possible.

Phil Dessauer, Community Service Council Executive Director, commented on the year's highlights including a number of "firsts" in 2007.  (See the end-of-year highlights report.)

Dave Cox, Director of Emergency Preparedness for Tulsa City-County Health Department, was recognized by Keith Anderson (2-1-1 administrator) for working with 2-1-1 to create an emergency back-up site.  Keith noted that 2-1-1 has received more than 85,000 calls--a much larger call volume than anticipated.  Pictured:  Dave Cox, with (in left photo) Keith Anderson and (in right photo) Jim Lyall.

Hillary Kitz was recognized by Janice Nicklas (left) (program director for the Tulsa Community AIDS Partnership) for her long-time service, advocacy, and support for people living with AIDS in Tulsa and Oklahoma.

Jill Willey received thanks from Phil Dessauer for all her work in chairing CSC's Long Range Planning Committee.  This role has involved much research, reading, and reflecting on major issues shaping the Council's work and our community's future.  (Coming soon:  the CSC "Perfect Storm" papers.)

Judge Milley Otey (center), Special Judge, Tulsa County District Court, was recognized by Rose Ewing (YDD program director) and Judy Phillips (YDD and CRASH Court administrator) for her dynamic leadership and support for the Youthful Drunk Driving Program.  Judge Otey described her mission:  "a generation that does not drink and drive."

Jim Lyall and Phil Dessauer recognized Ginny Utter, CSC's Director of Operations, for her outstanding work.  Phil described Ginny as "invaluable" and "a wonderful asset to our organization and the whole community."

Phil expressed the Council's appreciation for Kathleen Coan, who is retiring after 23 years as President of the Tulsa Area United Way.  Phil reflected, "Most people have no idea of United Way's impact over the last two decades.  How wonderful it has been dealing with and being supported by United Way and Kathleen."  In accepting the award, Kathleen appreciated having been surrounded by "Tulsa's wonderful people, and generosity beyond belief."

CSC Board, staff, and community members enjoyed a luncheon and the opportunity to celebrate together.
