Seventh Annual Vision Dinner -
September 26, 2007
TULSA – The seventh annual Vision in
Education Leadership Dinner took place Sept. 26 at Tulsa’s Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Phil
Dessauer, Jr., the executive director of the Community Service Council, was
honored at the dinner. He received the Stephen J. Jatras
Award, given in honor of a former member of the TCC Board of Regents who was a
community leader.

Also honored was
John-Kelley Warren, who received the Vision Award.
Proceeds from the dinner are used to support
students, faculty and staff through scholarships and educational programs.
The dinner is held each year in September to
commemorate the college’s opening in September 1970. At that time, it was the
first institution of public higher education established in Tulsa. The Vision
Dinner is TCC’s largest fundraising event each year.
Tom Kivisto, president and CEO of SemGroup,
is the Vision Dinner honorary chairman. Paul Cornell, Deputy CEO/COO of
SpiritBank, is the Vision Dinner committee chairman. TCC Foundation
members on the planning committee include Mike Cooper, AT&T; Karen Davis, Tulsa
Community Foundation; Joan Parkhurst, Paragon Films; Mary Shaw, community
volunteer; and John Wiscaver, State Farm.

Vincent J. Felitti, MD, is
Co-Principal Investigator of the Adverse Childhood
Experiences Study, ongoing collaborative research
between Kaiser Permanente and the Centers for Disease
Control. A graduate of Johns Hopkins Medical School
(1962), Dr. Felitti founded the Department of Preventive
Medicine for Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, California
in 1975, where he served as Chief of Preventive Medicine
until March 2001. He is also Clinical Professor of
Medicine at University of California, San Diego, a
Fellow of The American College of Physicians, and
founder of the California Institutes of Preventive
Medicine.

the nation’s leading authorities on the assessment of
young children, Dr. Meisels, President, Erikson
Institute, has published over 150 articles, books, and
monographs, and is co-author of the Work Sampling
System, the Early Screening Inventory-Revised,
and The Handbook of Early Childhood Intervention.
His research focuses on the development of alternative
assessment strategies for young children; the impact of
standardized tests; and developmental screening in early
childhood. Recently, he completed work on the
development of The Ounce Scale, an observational
assessment for birth to three-year-olds and their
families and is currently conducting a study of its
validity among Early Head Start children and providers.
