Community Service Council of Greater Tulsa

Here are the views of Community Service Council Board members!

What is the Community Service Council?

CSC is unique:  it looks to the future, researches and plans with others, and mobilizes effective, often long-term, action.

"CSC is the only community planning agency in Tulsa.   It anticipates needs and problems, brings groups together for problem solving, and then oversees and activates the resulting plans."

"CSC looks to the future to foresee needs in the Tulsa community.  The organization then begins to put the correct people and funding in place to meet those needs before the needs become unmanageable."

"CSC is the future-looking United Way agency that researches, plans, gathers information, and advocates for needed social services changes in the Tulsa area."

CSC helps others fulfill their roles.

"CSC has its finger on the pulse of social services in the community.  CSC is looked upon by other agencies, policymakers, individual volunteers, and funders as an expert and a referral source, that helps them do their jobs better."

CSC is an advocate.

"CSC serves as an advocate for those in need as well as the agencies and volunteers seeking to help. It also challenges them all to do their best in meeting the needs."

CSC links those in need to help.

"CSC connects people to the help then need as early as possible through unique information sources (Helpline, Babyline, Child Care Resource and Referral)."

CSC promotes effective volunteering.

"CSC mobilizes resources, especially volunteers, to help address many critical needs and issues."

What motivates me to devote time, talent and resources to the Community Service Council?

CSC pursues "what works," and takes action.

"I like knowing that my time is devoted to a ‘think tank’ that can see the big picture and select the best solutions from the many possibilities to address community concerns."

"CSC does not have a ball or party as a fund-raiser -- it does stuff! Takes action!"

CSC is focused.

"CSC wisely identified and chose early childhood development as its priority emphasis. Focusing on the well-being of children results in a healthy, strong community."

CSC makes a difference.

"The work of the Council continues to make a difference in Tulsa's quality of life in areas that I believe are important to me and will change the outcomes of the lives of the people affected by the Council's many initiatives and programs."

CSC helps me and others make a difference.

"CSC provides an opportunity for a citizen to be involved in finding solutions to critical human needs in this community. You can start at the beginning and see it through to the end. It is exciting!"
